About the painting: . Its ‘Guernica’ the famous anti war painting by Picasso in the context of Spanish civil war. Guernica was bombed by the nationalist/fascists
First book ‘For whom the bell tolls’ is a by Earnest Hemingway who was a war correspondent embedded with the antifascists/ communists during the Spanish Civil war.
Second book ‘Homage to Catalonia’ is by George Orwell who went to Spain during the Spanish Civil war to fight the Fascists and recounts his personal experiences and observations while fighting in the Spanish Civil War.
The third book ‘Coolie’ is by Indian author Mulk Raj Anand. The book has nothing to do with Spanish Civil war but the author did take part in the Spanish Civil war as a fighter on the republican side and was a member of the international brigade.
Finally Romancero Gitano. A poetry collection by Frederico Garcia Lorca who was a Spanish poet. He was assassinated by the Francoist forces at the beginning of the Spanish Civil War.
