MMA Annual Meet 2016

The annual celebrations of MMA was held at Hilton Hotel, Warwick on 8th, 9th and 10th of July 2016. The event commenced on Friday evening with music session led by Rex and company. John Mathews, our secretary anchored the event superbly ensuring that each of every one of the guests had an opportunity to show off their talents. On the 9th Saturday after the breakfast sports events were conducted indoors in view of the weather conditions and site restrictions. But Ramakrishnan, Anthony and Paulson, the sports event organisers didn’t let that dampen the spirit. In fact, more members participated in the sports sessions this year in comparison. After lunch clinical professional development hour was led by Dr Job Cyriac, consultant paediatrician. The theme “Clinical cure or Holistic healing” touched a philosophical or spiritual aspect of medicine rather than the regular medical lecture. This was followed by the AGM which continued to be as exciting as always. The main Saturday evening kicked off at 5pm with Dr Paul Peter, the president of MMA, giving the welcome speech and thanking everyone for attending the meeting. Lisbeth Cyriac, the young MMA member under the leadership of Paul Peter anchored the meeting impeccably. The chief guest for the main cultural event on Saturday evening was the cine star Mr Shankar of “Manjil Virinja Pookal” fame who gave a short but interesting speech, mostly his film world experiences. He enjoyed the event so much that he wanted to come once again just as a regular guest next year. Variety entertainments were provided by idea Star Singers; Sreenath, Vidhya Sankar and Ghazal/Playback Singer: Anitha Sheikh. Musical troop “Shruti” under the leadership of Kishore performed number of musical treats, in particular songs from the film “Manjil virinja Pookal” in honour of the chief guest, were well appreciated. Variety dances ranging from classical dances and contemporary dances were performed by Reshmi’ and group. The evening dinner by “Five Rivers Catering” was sumptuous well appreciated. This was followed by more performances by the guest artists, disco, vote of thanks and reminder by the president to attend the next year’s function.
