MMA Annual Meet 2017
The annual celebrations of MMA were held at Mercure Daventry Court Hotel on 7th, 8th and 9th of July 2017. The event commenced on Friday evening with music session led by Rex and company. John Mathews, our secretary anchored the event superbly ensuring that each of every one of the guests had an opportunity to show off their talents.
On the 8th Saturday after the breakfast, sports events were conducted in the hotel grounds. Paulson, Suresh, Ramakrishnan and Anthony led the sports event.
After lunch, Dr Renju Joseph, consultant psychiatrist, led clinical professional development hour. The topic was based on medico-legal cases and this gave insight for the practising doctors in dealing with litigations. This was followed by the AGM, which continued to be as exciting as always. During AGM new committee members including President, Vice-president, Secretary, joint secretary and Treasurer were elected.
The main Saturday evening kicked off at 5pm with Dr Paul Peter, the president of MMA, giving the welcome speech and thanking everyone for attending the meeting. Variety entertainments were provided by artists from Kerala. These included comedy programme and musical treat. ‘Bollywood vibes’ performed variety dances and interactive sessions.
The evening dinner by ‘Mint and Mustard’ was sumptuous and well appreciated. This was followed by more performances by the guest artists, DJ and vote of thanks

The annual celebrations of MMA was held at Hilton Hotel, Warwick on 8th, 9th and 10th of July 2016. The event commenced on Friday evening with music session led by Rex and company. John Mathews, our secretary anchored the event superbly ensuring that each of every one of the guests had an opportunity to show off their talents.
On the 9th Saturday after the breakfast sports events were conducted indoors in view of the weather conditions and site restrictions. But Ramakrishnan, Anthony and Paulson, the sports event organisers didn’t let that dampen the spirit. In fact, more members participated in the sports sessions this year in comparison.
After lunch clinical professional development hour was led by Dr Job Cyriac, consultant paediatrician. The theme “Clinical cure or Holistic healing” touched a philosophical or spiritual aspect of medicine rather than the regular medical lecture. This was followed by the AGM which continued to be as exciting as always.

Lisbeth Cyriac, the young MMA member under the leadership of Paul Peter anchored the meeting impeccably. The chief guest for the main cultural event on Saturday evening was the cine star Mr Shankar of “Manjil Virinja Pookal” fame who gave a short but interesting speech, mostly his film world experiences. He enjoyed the event so much that he wanted to come once again just as a regular guest next year. Variety entertainments were provided by idea Star Singers; Sreenath, Vidhya Sankar and Ghazal/Playback Singer: Anitha Sheikh. Musical troop “Shruti” under the leadership of Kishore performed number of musical treats, in particular songs from the film “Manjil virinja Pookal” in honour of the chief guest, were well appreciated. Variety dances ranging from classical dances and contemporary dances were performed by Reshmi’ and group.
The evening dinner by “Five Rivers Catering” was sumptuous well appreciated. This was followed by more performances by the guest artists, disco, vote of thanks and reminder by the president to attend the next year’s function.
MMA Annual Meet 2015
The annual meeting of MMA meeting was held at Daventry Court Hotel in Northamptonshire on 11th July. Ranjan Mathai, India’s High Commissioner to London was the chief guest for the main cultural event. In his speech the High Commissioner proposed work together and associate with other Indian doctors organisations such as British Asian Physician of Indian Origin (BAPIO) and Indian Medical Association (UK).
The evening entertainment for the event was provided by Idea Star Singer Joby John, Playback Singer Delsy Ninan and Mimicry Artist Kalabhavan Sateesh. Performance by MMA’s in-house talents included Otttomthullal by Dr Ajith Kartha and a selection of melodious music by Dr Vani Jayaram. Most of the delegates for the event arrived on Friday evening and took part in outdoor sports activities on Saturday morning.
Continuing Medical Education (CME), a special session to maintain competence and learn about new and developing areas in the medical field was held in the afternoon. Dr Suresh Chandran, Clinical Director and training programme director for acute medicine, made a compelling presentation for doctors considering a career in acute medicine. Dr Vijayakumar Kurup, Consultant at North Tees University Hospital presented a session on advances in Breast Cancer research.
AGM held The Annual General meeting of MMA was also conducted on Saturday 11th July. The meeting passed amended constitution and elected new officials. The revised MMA constitution is available in the website. MMA’s vice president Dr Peter Paul has been elected as the President and Joint Secretary Dr.John Mathews has been selected as the new Secretary. Two new executive members elected are Dr Prasanth Nair and Dr Suresh Chandran.
MMA Annual Celebration 2014
The Malayali Medical Association of UK, the foremost association for doctors of malayali origin, celebrated their annual event at Daventry Country hotel in Northamptonshire from 11th to 13th of July 2014 with a variety of performances. Dr K Ajith, the president, welcomed the gathering. Senior members of the association Dr S Jayarajan, with his wife Rema and Dr N Alexander, his wife Mercy inaugurated the function by lighting the traditional lamp during the main event on 12th of July evening. Following the welcome speech and lighting of the lamp entertainments started with a captivating dance act by the group Natyapriya, followed by performances by idea star singer finalist Dr Vani Jayaram, Fahad (Mohammed Rafi tributes) Mathu Punnappra (Comedian) Benoy Skaria, Rex and his son Jeffrey. One of the most unique original and well acclaimed performances was the Ottumthullal by Dr Ajit Kartha. The function came to a close with non-stop musical melodies and guests dancing till early hours of the morning. Delicious snacks and main meals were provided by eminent catering team "Mint and Mustard" a Kerala fusion restaurant based at Cardiff.
